At Route 46 Nissan, we encourage our customers to invest in a spare tire. It's a smart way to prevent becoming stranded at the side of the road due to a flat tire. We've found many drivers want to know the difference between a full size spare and one that is a compact temporary.

The full size temporary spare features a shallow tread depth and lightweight construction and matches your vehicle's proper tire size. A compact temporary shares these same features, but has smaller dimensions and usually requires a higher inflation pressure, around 60 psi. Although the compact temporary requires less storage space in your vehicle, the full size spare won't interfere with traction control, ABS or all-wheel drive.

Whatever spare you choose, make sure it's properly inflated, drive at a lower speed, and use it only as a temporary measure to get you to our Route 46 Nissan service department.
