Using Rock Salt With Sand Can Reduce Your Risk Of Slipping And Falling This Winter

One of the worst parts of the winter is the snow and the ice. Every year about one million Americans will slip and fall on it, 17,000 of them will suffer fatal injuries according to the CDC. The national Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that each year there are about 30,000 fatal automobile accidents in America.

With the danger presented by the ice and the snow, taking proper precautions is extremely prudent. Sodium chloride rock salt is a fantastic ally to have, working fast to melt away the snow and the ice. The only drawback with the salt is that it dissolves into the water.

This is where applying sand becomes key. The sand or litter will make sure that when the water refreezes, the resulting surface is packed with grit to make sure you always have the traction you need.

All of us here at Route 46 Nissan wish you a happy spring, and please remember to drive safe.
