Unfortunately, tires do not last forever. At some point, even with proper maintenance, they will need to be replaced. But how do you know when the time has come to make an investment in new tires?
A common way to determine if the tire tread has reached the safety limit is to use a penny to measure the depth of each tire. If the faced down head of Lincoln can still be seen, then typically it means that the tires are below a safety standard and need to be replaced. While inspecting each tire, look for any bubbles in the sidewall which is a clear sign that a tire needs to be replaced immediately due to tread separation. You may also see cracks in the side wall which is due to dry-rotting.
When your tires need replacing, or if you want a tire inspection, please make a service appointment with Route 46 Nissan at our Totowa location.
