It'd be an understatement to say that the United Arab Emirates is a pretty hot place, but today, it got a whole lot hotter. Nissan has just announced that its new MY16 GT-R broke the Guinness World Record for fastest drift ever!
?
In an event at the Fujairah International Airport in the Emirates, Nissan new MY16 GT-R, which only just recently debuted at the New York International Auto Show, broke the world record formerly held by Polish driver Jakub Przygónski. Driven by Japanese drift champion Masato Kawabata, the specially tuned GT-R rocketed to a stunning 189.5 mph before pulling a 30 degree drift into the history books!
The new GT-R was able to achieve this Herculean feat of drifting due in no small part to its engineering at the hands of the team at Nismo, Nissan's Motorsports division. Under its care, Nismo was able to boost the MY16 GT-R up to 1380 horsepower and channel most of that power to the back wheels.
For Nissan, this record represents not only a historic achievement but also a standard of excellence that it commit to not just for this highly tuned GT-R, but for all of its vehicles. So if you'd like to get behind the wheel of one of the best engineered vehicles on the road today, visit us at Route 46 Nissan to test drive a new Nissan today!
